Watch out for extortion in travel shopping

Source: scenic spot 05-30 Browse:

Female tourists should never shop in stores or restaurants with unknown prices, otherwise they are very likely to be ripped off. In high-end stores, goods are clearly priced, so it is not easy for passengers to suffer losses when buying.

Handling method:

1. If you are ripped off, even if you are not fluent in language, you should firmly protest. In the crowd, the shop assistant may withdraw his sword.

2. When traveling in foreign tourist areas, passengers often report to the police because they are dissatisfied with the excessive price charged in the hall, and the restaurant is suspended as a result.

Cases of tourism extortion:

On September 20, 2015, after visiting Changpinggou, Siguniang Mountain, Nanchong and our self driving friends left the scenic spot at 5:30 p.m. and returned to the Baima Tibetan House where we stayed in Rilong Town for rest and dinner. At about 7:00 p.m., someone of our Nanchong friends suggested that we go to Maobiliang Mountain, 7 kilometers away, to see the panoramic view of Siguniang Mountain, and we went together. Before leaving, the landlady told us that the speed limit for this section of road was 40/hour. We have three cars in total, and I drive the polo hatchback at the end. Just after leaving Rilong Town, turn right downhill, then turn left to cross the bridge, turn right onto the main road, and walk for 7 or 800 meters. I heard a car running after it with its horn blaring. I saw a yellow flying car with Chuan A license plate behind was soon overtaken. I was wondering if the speed limit was 40 km/h? How come some cars are so crazy? Since there is a newly built wall on my right, I dare not approach the wall too quickly, so I slowly make way for the car behind me. From the rearview mirror, I saw a gray Geely Freeship sedan in the superego car. Before I had time to let go, the Geely Freeship quickly overtook my car and swung the steering wheel to a sudden stop in front of my car. I quickly stepped on the brake to stop without rear end collision. I was about to ask how the car in front of me drove. However, five tall and big Tibetan men who got off the Geely car were probably in their twenties. One Tibetan in a red vest pointed at me and swore at me? The yellow cars behind gave way. Why didn't you give way? The window of my car was just open at that time. I wanted to argue with him. My wife, who was sitting in the front passenger's seat of my car, saw the situation badly and was not kind to him. She immediately stopped me from arguing with him and said sorry. I sat in the car for a minute or two without moving. The Tibetan in red said that I had pinned his car in the ditch. The left front wheel was pinched by a stone, and he had to pay 400 yuan. I've driven for more than ten years, and I've never met anyone who overtook me like this. Besides, we haven't had any contact. I know that the other person really doesn't come. I know I'm in trouble. This is obvious extortion. I quietly dialed the phone of the car friends in front of me and asked them to return. The main reason is that we should watch them a little more, so as to avoid the four people on our car being hit by immediate losses. I dared to get off the bus when the front driver came back. I told several Tibetans that I was sorry. When I heard the rear speaker, I was ready to let it go. I had no time to let it go. If there was a reaction time, you would soon overtake me. Tibetans in red said that my car was pressing the middle line. I said that the middle line is dotted, and it is not impossible to ride the line. In addition to the narrow road, I didn't give way so quickly. The Tibetan in red said that I had left his car, causing his left front wheel to drive to the ditch head on the roadside and drive up from the mud, and the left front tire was punctured by a roadside stone. He said that I must pay him 400 yuan for the tire.

We car friends in Nanchong soon contacted the owner of Baima Tibetan House (the owner went to Chengdu that day). The landlady came. Seeing that we were stuck here, she asked about the situation. I told her briefly. After she knew the situation, she called her husband first, but she didn't say everything completely. His husband thought we had an accident and knew that the other party wanted 400 yuan for tires, so he told us to give it up. We disagreed and she gently told us that we could report the case. But a man came with her and said he would pay for it. We tourists from other places are not clear about the local situation. Whether to call the police is still in doubt. The Tibetan in red said that if you call the police, it will not be 400 yuan, but he said that a lot will be much better. He also said that the rear cover of the left tire is also open, which is definitely not 400 yuan away. We fully understand that these people are here to extort money. We can't argue with them again without knowing the local conditions, as well as the safety of my wife, colleagues and friends in our car. So we have to compromise and tell them to ask for less. We are responsible for half of it. I give them 200 yuan. The other side said that they could not. After a short period of stalemate, a middle-aged man (Tibetan) who came with the landlady said he would pay them 400 yuan. My wife and a female car friend who came with us once again told Hong Yi to pay 300 yuan, OK? Another man in blue and black next to the red coat from the Geely car said: 400 yuan, not a penny. Like the local emperor, there is no room for negotiation. My wife had to give 400 yuan to the Tibetan in red for my safety and for everyone to get away as soon as possible.
After we returned to Baima Tibetan House, we analyzed the behavior of the five Tibetans on Geely cars. It was all extortion, because what did the five young Tibetans come out for? Why do you want to overtake on the 40 km/h speed limit? What's wrong with our normal driving? Our car doesn't touch Geely at all. What's our responsibility? After a thorough analysis, even the landlady and another middle-aged man (Tibetan) beside her felt that the five people had problems. They also said that we should call the police, and the local police would never give them any favours. However, we Nanchong riders can't explain the situation clearly. We are afraid that the alarm will not have good results, so it is correct to get out first. After talking with the landlady and the middle-aged man (Tibetan) beside her, I know that the red dress is the second child, and the one who said a lot is called Namuka (I heard that he is a staff member of the Tourism Bureau).
The more we think about it, the more frightened we become. We know that the other party is deliberately looking for our fault to extort money from us. Fortunately, we soon realized that their purpose was not to fight with them, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable. We couldn't sleep that night, and left the horrible place in a hurry the next morning.
Now that we have safely returned to Nanchong in the early morning yesterday, we really feel safe. I released this horror experience and hoped that the local authorities would make decisions for us. We also want to know the police station alarm number of Rilong Town. Although the incident has passed, we are determined to call the police. The local party and government, public security police are requested to support us, investigate the incident and give us an explanation!!!
