Mount Danxia Located in Shaoguan City, it is a national 5A tourist attraction, national scenic spot, national nature reserve, world geopark and national geopark. Covering an area of about 320 square kilometers, it is named after the mountain stones that are "as beautiful as woldane and as bright as bright clouds". Danxia Mountain was called "Quhonggang", "Shaoshi Mountain" and "Old Site of Burning Wood Buddha" in ancient times.
Danxia landform is a type of red bed landform, which is developed in the red continental sand conglomerate stratum of the Mesozoic Cretaceous system and is formed by water erosion, dissolution and gravity collapse. Danxia Mountain is composed of more than 680 red gravel rocks with flat top, steep body and gentle foot, and is characterized by Red Cliff. The altitude is between 160 and 600 meters, and the highest peak, Bazhai, is 618 meters above sea level. There are more than 80 grotto temple sites and other Buddhist temples in Danxia Mountain, where many legends, poems and cliff carvings have been left by scholars of all ages.
Danxia Mountain is composed of five scenic spots: Danxia, Bazhai, Shaoshi, Aizhai and Jinjiang Gallery. It is famous for the majesty of Yangyuan Stone, the wonder of Yinyuan Stone, the danger of Bazhai, the beauty of Jinjiang, the seclusion of Jinshi Rock, and the charm of Shaoshi. The main scenic spots of Danxia Scenic Area include the Elder Peak, Xianglong Lake, Yangyuanshi, Dabashi, Biezhuan Temple, "Danxia" Cliff Carvings, Mandarin Duck Tree, and the ruins of Guzhai Rock Temple and Cave Temple. Bazhai Scenic Area is located in the west of Danxia, and the main scenic spots are Bazhai, Teapot Peak, Yanyan, Pingtou Village, Five Immortals Rock, Camel Peak, Sister Peak, Tongzi Worship Guanyin, etc. The total length of Jinjiang Gallery Scenic Area is 109 kilometers, with red cliffs hanging upside down on both sides of the Jinjiang River, green bamboos embracing the river, and the scenic spots along the way are connected by beads and jade strings, which is a scenic corridor with mountains and waters. Jinjiang organically connects the scenic spots of Elder Peak, Yangyuanshi, Shaoshi, Aizhai, etc.
