Jinyuan Former Residence Memorial Hall It is the former residence of General Xie Jinyuan, the national hero against Japan. The former residence was built in the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, and was restored as it was in 1998. The former residence covers an area of 1080 square meters, with a building area of 675 square meters. It is a typical Hakka residential building with two entrances facing east and sitting in the west. There are two halls on the left and right, 21 rooms, and two patios. The three houses are connected by one roadway. The front wall of the house is hung with the portrait of General Xie Jinyuan and a plaque with the title of "National Soul". The hall displays the life photos of General Xie Jinyuan and the photos of historical sites when he led 800 heroes in Shanghai to defend the Sihang warehouse against the Japanese invaders. There are awards, medals, cultural relics and materials of the National Government praising the heroic deeds of Xie Jinyuan; The left hall displays the poems and paintings of the national dignitaries and celebrities commemorating Xie Jinyuan. Opposite the former residence is the Monument to General Xie Jinyuan, the national hero of resistance against Japan, which was written by Qu Wu, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, and became an attachment of the former residence. In October 2000, the construction of a three storey pavilion style memorial hall was started on the side of the former residence, with a construction area of 862 square meters. In front of the door is a square and green space of more than 2000 square meters. In the center of the square is a statue of General Xie Jinyuan.

In order to carry forward the patriotic spirit of the general, the Jiaoling County Government allocated special funds to redeem the lost houses of the former residence in 1998. After the renovation, Xie Jinyuan's former residence and memorial exhibition (57 pieces) were approved to be listed as the cultural relics protection units of the county. In 2000, a special fund was allocated to build Xie Jinyuan Memorial Hall, which is connected with the original building of the former residence and reflects each other, and a large number of pictures and objects showing the life stories of the general are collected. Xie Jinyuan's former residence attracts a large number of Chinese descendants and international friends at home and abroad every year. In 2002, Xie Jinyuan's former residence was approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province as a provincial cultural relics protection unit, and in 2009, it was named "Meizhou Patriotic Education Base".
