Heilongjiang Museum , formerly known as Moscow Shopping Mall, was built in 1906. It is one of the earliest shopping malls in Harbin. It is a classical European Baroque building, a provincial comprehensive museum, and a scientific center for the preservation, research, and exhibition of Heilongjiang's history, cultural relics, art, animals and plants.
Although the museum is small, there are many kinds of exhibitions. The museum has a collection of more than 107000 pieces, of which the fossils of ancient human parietal bone and left lower limb shin bone unearthed in Wuchang Xuetian Village prove that ancient humans have been active in Heilongjiang more than 20000 years ago. Dinosaur fossils, animal specimens, as well as ancient pottery pots, silver jade, weapons, calligraphy and painting and other cultural relics unearthed in Heilongjiang Province can be seen. There are also frequently updated temporary exhibitions in the museum, including celebrity calligraphy, painting and handicraft exhibitions, local cultural relics exhibitions, etc.
