Mengshan Giant Buddha , also known as Xishan Giant Buddha, is located in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Mengshan Giant Buddha was carved in the Tianbao period of the Northern Qi Dynasty. It was originally a cliff Buddha statue behind Kaihua Temple in Mengshan. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the Mengshan Giant Buddha was destroyed. The Buddha was rediscovered in 1980, but the head of the Buddha has disappeared. The head of the current Buddha is newly carved by later generations.

The height from the bottom of the legs to the neck of the Mengshan Giant Buddha is about 30 meters. The original height of the Giant Buddha is about 46 meters, calculated in proportion, plus the height of the head of the Buddha. On the platform in front of the Giant Buddha, there are architectural relics with a width of three rooms, and the door pier stone and the ground are still there. There is a turtle in the north of the ruins, and the monument has been lost. There are several small stone caves on the west wall of the niche, which are used to embed the beam purlin when building the Buddha Pavilion.

How to get to the Mengshan Giant Buddha ：
Take bus No.58 to Mengshan Giant Buddha Scenic Spot Station. Getting off the bus is the gate of the scenic spot, but there is still a long way to go up the mountain. You can choose to walk up the mountain, or take the environmental protection bus (12 yuan/round trip).

I asked the local people to take the 804 bus back to Luocheng and change for the 58 bus to the scenic spot. The scenic spot is free. You can take the special electric vehicle for the scenic spot for 12 yuan back and forth. I thought it was the price. So I went there to have a look, It took more than an hour to walk to the terminal of the electric vehicle. There are few scenic spots along the way. I regret it. Then take a look at the original intellectual youth protection area and cave, and you can see the Buddha on the mountain road for half an hour (you can rent a car directly to the Buddha).
