Lake Manasarovar , the mother of the world's rivers, is an inland freshwater lake. In 1983, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was opened to India, Nepal and other religious countries, and located in Ali region.

Mabang Yongcuo Lake is 4588 meters above sea level, covers an area of 412 square kilometers, with the deepest water up to 81.8 meters, and the total water storage capacity is about 20 billion cubic meters. This is a sapphire like holy lake, and the lake water is shining with charming colors in the light of the sun. In the rainy season every year, there are groups of swans migrating in groups, flying to the holy lake to roost, and using their beautiful figures, the scenery of the holy lake becomes more vivid. The water of Mapanyongcuo Lake is melted from the water and snow of Gangdise Mountain. The lake water is extremely clear. It is said that fish can be seen below 10 meters. "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" also wrote about Mapanyongcuo, which was called "Western Heaven Yaochi". There are five temples in the west, southwest, south, east and north of the pilgrimage road around the holy lake. They are Jiwu Temple, Langna Temple and Serelong Temple of the Kagyu Sect, Chugu Temple and Guozu Temple of the Gelug Sect. Among them, Jiwu Temple and Chugu Temple are the most famous. Jiwu Temple is located in Jiwu Village, the nearest to the holy mountain, and is an important tourist distribution center.

There are four water sources around the holy lake: Maquan River in the east, Shiquan River in the north, Xiangquan River in the west, and Kongque River in the south. The four rivers named after the four gods of the heaven, namely, the horse, the lion, the elephant and the peacock, probably derive from their reputation as the mother of the world's rivers. The hillside next to Jiwu Temple is the best place to watch the holy lake Mapanyongcuo. From the top of the mountain, you can have a panoramic view of Mapanyong Cuo.
