the Ruins of the Cathedral of Saint Paul It is one of the landmark buildings in Macao. In 2005, as part of Macao's historical city, it became a United Nations World Cultural Heritage. This church combines the styles of European Renaissance and Oriental architecture, reflecting the blend of eastern and western arts, with fine sculpture and majesty. In 1562, Portugal built a Gothic church, called St. Paul's Church. Because its name sounds close to the local dialect of "Sanba", it is also called Dasanba Church. The building combines the styles of European Renaissance and Oriental architecture, and was designed by Italian priests with the assistance of Japanese craftsmen. The church is finely carved. The front wall alone costs 30000 taels of silver. Dasanba has experienced three fires before and after. In 1835, the fire burned for more than two hours. The whole building burned down, but the front wall stood still. After the fire, it was named "Dasanba Memorial Archway" because it looked like a Chinese archway.
