Xisha Islands , one of the four major islands in the South China Sea, the Southwest Zhongsha Islands has always been under the jurisdiction of the People's Government of Guangdong Province of China. In 1988, Hainan established a province, and immediately put these islands and reefs and their sea areas under the jurisdiction of Hainan Province. Consisting of Yongle Islands and Xuande Islands, it has 22 islands, 7 sandbars and more than 10 reefs and shoals. This large and small coral island group floats in the sea area of 30000 square kilometers, beautiful and pure. The Xisha Islands are like water lilies and floating beads in the green sea of South China. It is located about 180 nautical miles southeast of Hainan Island and forms the southernmost territory of China with Dongsha, Zhongsha and Nansha Islands. The Xisha Islands, stretching from northeast to southwest, is composed of 45 islands, islands, reefs and beaches in a sea area 250 kilometers long and 150 kilometers wide. There are more than 40 kinds of birds inhabiting on the Xisha Islands, including boobies, black terns, black naped terns, big crested terns, and dark edge rural eyes. In the upper layer of the whole forest and above it, thousands of seabirds are circling and flying all day long, singing thousands of songs, which is a wonder of its own, known as "the paradise of birds". The Xisha Islands have the largest number of islands among the South China Sea islands, with the largest island area (Yongxing Island) and the highest elevation (Shidao). It is the only cemented rock island (Shidao is a late Pleistocene dune rock) and the only non biogenic island (Gaojianshi), and has the largest total land area.

China has sent envoys to today's Malaysia via the South China Sea, from which the eminent monk Yijing of the Tang Dynasty also arrived in India. The ancient merchant ships full of ceramics, silk and spices sailed here, so it is also called the "Maritime Silk Road".
The Sand Islands have been the sacred territory of China since ancient times. Facts have proved that our people first discovered these islands, reefs and beaches, and used them as a base for fishing, production and living for a long time. They have been developing and operating these islands and reefs for generations. Our government was the first to exercise jurisdiction and sovereignty over these islands and reefs.
