Potala Palace Tourist Attraction (National 5A Tourist Attraction), World Cultural Heritage, National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. The Potala Palace was originally built by the Tubo Dynasty's Zanpu Songzangampo to marry Princess Chizun and Princess Wencheng. In 1645 (the second year of Shunzhi's reign in the Qing Dynasty), after the reconstruction of the Potala Palace by the fifth Dalai Lama, it became the residence of the Dalai Lama's winter palace of all previous dynasties, as well as the venue for major religious and political ceremonies. It was also the place to worship the Dalai Lama's spiritual tower of all previous generations, and the ruling center of the old Tibet where politics and religion were integrated.
